Bomb threats at over a dozens schools in US Northeast, Midwest
Area schools have received a “significant number” of bomb threats on Tuesday and last Friday, state Fire Marshal spokeswoman Jennifer Mieth said.
One father of two said he dropped his daughters off, only to watch cops swarm schools a short time later. According to the official Facebook page of the Monson Public Schools, the call was a recording, and was received at around 11:00 A.M. “Additional information will be made available as the investigation progresses”. On Maryland’s Eastern Shore, the caller said there was a bomb inside a high school.
Police responded to a bomb threat at Ayer-Shirley High School Tuesday morning.
“When we arrived at the high school, there was about five minutes left”, the chief said.
Students are safe, police said.
A fourth bomb threat in less than a week has law enforcement officials perplexed in the Mining City.
According to state police, it’s a felony in Rhode Island to make a fake threat towards a school.
In Bergenfield, students were forced to huddle together outside on a day with wind chills in the teens while tactical crews swept through the schools for signs of a threat. NY and others had received the same or similar threats, but chose not to act as quickly (and haphazardly) as the California hub did.
Mount Hope High School was evacuated Tuesday following a bomb threat. During the search, approximately 2,000 students were relocated offsite so as to ensure their safety.
Plymouth Police said Tuesday morning students were back in class after the school received a bomb threat.
Authorities said they searched schools in at least nine Bergen County towns and one in Passaic County, but found no explosives.
“It was determined that the comments made in Taunton’s voicemail message were general in nature, not specific to Taunton, and, therefore, did not warrant an evacuation”, she said.
