Critics’ Choice Awards: Winners List
In what is a significant boost to the movie’s Oscar chances, the fourth chapter in the Mad Max franchise won nine categories, including Best Director for Miller, at the Critics’ Choice Awards.
The nine-year-old actor reduced people to tears at the glamorous ceremony in Santa Monica last night (01.17.16) when he waltzed on stage to give his adorable acceptance speech as his picked up his gong for Best Young Actor/Actress thanks to his turn in “Room”.
The cast of “Spotlight”, the film about journalists at the Boston Globe investigating allegations of child sex abuse in the Catholic Church, was also honored for acting ensemble.
The Big Short, about the 2008 financial meltdown, won the best comedy category, while Inside Out was awarded the best animated feature. DiCaprio was the recipient of the best actor award for his work in “Revenant”, while Sylvester Stallone of “Creed” took the best supporting actor prize.
And then he showed his age by admitting that he knew exactly where he would put the award – “right on the shelf right beside my Millennium Falcon”.
Amy Schumer got the Best Actress in a Comedy award for her role in “Trainwreck”, and she also took the Critics’ Choice MVP Award. The 26-year-old won the Golden Globe for Best Performing artist in a Dramatization, so things are searching Better than average for her in the Oscar race – it was uncovered not long ago that she’s selected in the Best On-screen character classification.

“This is super cool!” he told the crowd as he stood on a box to speak into the microphone.
And award for cutest acceptance speech ever goes to… The actor, who received a standing ovation, thanked the film’s co-writer and director, Ryan Coogler (“You made it all special”), and star Michael B. Jordan (“You’re a special talent”).
For television, “Mr. Robot” got several awards, including Best Drama Series.
Constance Wu, who stars on comedy series Fresh Off the Boat, donned a pale blue Peter Langner dress with an Amanda Pearl clutch and Brian Atwood shoes.
Jeffrey Tambor, who plays a transgender father in Transparent, was named best actor in a comedy series and instructed the audience: “Change the world, it needs it”.
