Civilian killed in clash with security forces in Kashmir
The youth has been identified as Parvez Ahmad Guroo, son of Ghulam Qadir Guroo, a resident of Nina Batapora.
Inspector-General Syed Javaid Mujtaba Gillani confirmed that a civilian had been killed and said the two men injured were hospitalized and in stable condition. The house in which the militants were believed to have been trapped has been destroyed in the gun battle.
This morning, when security forces started house to house searches, the terrorists opened fire on them. Army spokesman said two militants have been killed in the operation so far and the operation is still in progress.
An agitated mob in nearby Kakapora town torched a vehicle of Special Operations Group (SOG) of the state police as the news about the civilian’s death spread.
Tension prevailed as senior civil and police officers rushed to the spot to defuse the situation.
One AK assault rifle and some ammunition has been recovered from the scene of the gunbattle which began last night following information about the presence of militants in the area, the official said. Find us on Facebook too!
