Drug lord El Chapo ‘flirted with Mexican actress’ in text messages
Kate del Castillo has finally broken her silence on the Sean Penn-El Chapo saga, saying, “many have decided to make up items that they think will make good stories and aren’t truthful”. Guzman evaded authorities then, but was finally captured after a shootout Friday in the Pacific coast state of Sinaloa.
“I see Sean Penn on the internet here”, wrote “Papa”.
After the meeting, the actress wrote to Guzman: “I don’t sleep much since I saw you”.
Mexican news media on Monday published images of him and Del Castillo that apparently came from a security camera in Guadalajara.
When the news broke Saturday that Rolling Stone magazine had obtained an exclusive interview and photograph with Guzman, the Esteghbal brothers immediately noticed he was wearing two of their shirts. Everyone wanted to tell his story, but he said he would only work with the Mexican actress, who the ex-official called “Mexico’s Sharon Stone“.
“The actor also shrugged off a suggestion that he was “taking hits” for agreeing to submit his article to Guzman prior to publication by Rolling Stone“.
Penn also reiterated what he said in his article: He did not carry his cellular phone to Mexico from Southern California.
However, the actors themselves are not thought to be the subjects of any criminal proceedings, with the Mexican Attorney General’s Office saying that it “investigates actions”, “not people”.
The newspaper Milenio published yesterday phone text messages between Guzman and Del Castillo that were intercepted by the authorities between October and November.
Guzman, who is married to a former beauty queen and has twin daughters with her and more children with other women, told Del Castillo his mother wanted to meet her.
A United States shirt maker says its shirts are flying off the shelves after Mexican drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman was pictured wearing one. Penn learns that the DEA had been aware of his first trip, so returning to Mexico by traditional routes is a no-go.
Penn’s sympathetic appraisal recalls his support in previous years of the late Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez.
Deeply concerned that the world’s most notorious drug kingpin, Joaquin “Chapo” Guzman, could escape for a third time, Mexico has beefed up security at his prison, reinforcing the floor of his cell and placing a guard on his door 24/7.
A movie based loosely on that stunning caper was scheduled to debut Sunday in Mexico. The prisoner, who is being moved from cell to cell in a Mexican prison to ensure that he won’t escape again, will be extradited to the USA where orange onesies is the look du jour.
Mr Penn wrote that Guzman told him: “I supply more heroin, methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana than anybody else in the world”.
“Guzman is in a different, very cold zone of the prison and in complete isolation”, the cartel head’s lawyer, Juan Pablo Badillo, complained to reporters after visiting his client, comparing his current conditions to those he escaped a year ago. The U.S. authorities were alerted to Penn’s trip soon after his arrival, sources said. His Sinaloa Cartel is considered the biggest importer of illegal narcotics into America, where he has been indicted by at least six federal grand juries on murder and drug trafficking charges. When asked if he is to blame for high addiction rates, he responded: “No, that is false, because the day I don’t exist, it’s not going to decrease in any way at all”.
