No bomb found, Pasco school returns to normal operation
Deputies arrested a 14-year-old boy Monday after he allegedly posted a threat on Instagram that something would happen at Pine View Middle School in Land O’Lakes on Tuesday morning.
Carroll County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were called shortly before 10 a.m. Tuesday to West Middle School at 60 Monroe Street on a report of a threat.
Ryan told The Globe that law enforcement concluded the threat had “low credibility” but that Bodie made a decision to shut down for the day given that the threat talked about targeting students.
It was the second bomb threat in as many days involving a Pasco school. Please know that all students and staff are safe.
Sgt. Scott Gaarde referred all questions about school district procedure to the Iowa City Community School District, but said that police were investigating a possible threat with the assistance of the Iowa City Fire Department and the University of Iowa Police Department. The Sheriff says that decision to have students and staff evacuate or shelter in place, is a joint effort between the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office, and the Wicomico County Board of Education, and is based on information in each of those individual cases. As a precaution, students were diverted via bus and taken to the nearby Publix parking lot while the school was checked out.
