Watch Sarah Palin Endorsing Donald Trump and Start to Get Scared
Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin is set to endorse Donald Trump at the presidential candidate’s rally in Ames, Iowa Tuesday night, ABC News has learned.
So though it is not clear what kind of impact Palin’s endorsement will have on Trump’s campaign in the long run, her ties to Iowa may be the boost he needs to overcome Ted Cruz in the Hawkeye State’s polls.
Former Republican Governor of Alaska Sarah Palin, seen at the the 42nd annual Conservative Political Action Conference previous year, endorsed Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump Tuesday. While both Trump and Palin have embraced each other publicly in the past, most pundits believed her support would be thrown to Cruz, who is well regarded with both the Tea Party and the Christian coalition within the GOP.
Speaking at a Trump rally, Palin said the billionaire candidate was the man to lead the fight against the Islamic State (IS) group, also known as ISIS, which has claimed responsibility for numerous global attacks, including a mass shooting in California last month in which 14 people died. “She can pick winners”.
In September, Palin told CNN’s Jake Tapper than she would be happy to join a Trump administration and suggested she would be interested in leading the Department of Energy.
Perry said the timing of the endorsement could be a key to give Trump and edge.
The 2016 presidential campaign was awash with rumor and speculation on Tuesday that the stridently outspoken tycoon was set to secure the endorsement of the equally strident and outspoken Sarah Palin. Palin’s girlfriend told police she and Palin had been arguing all evening about contact she had with a former boyfriend when, according to the police report, Palin “struck her on the left side of her head near her eye with a clos, ed fist”. “Let me just say I’d be deeply disappointed”. “What the heck would the establishment know about conservativism?” she said.
I couldn’t disagree with her more but she has played the game now for years. Ted Cruz, who was once championed by Palin.
He also tweeted: “Regardless of what she does in 2016, I will always be a big fan”.
“After hearing what Cruz is now saying about my mom, in a negative knee-jerk reaction, makes me hope my mom does endorse Trump”, Bristol Palin wrote in the post, which Sarah Palin shared on Facebook and Twitter.
Standing in front of a life-size, rifle-toting model of the actor in full cowboy gear, Trump accepted the endorsement of Aissa Wayne at the John Wayne Birthplace Museum in Winterset, Iowa.
