Twitter hit by disruptions in KSA and elsewhere
Twitter has confirmed an outage shut out some of its 320 million users earlier today.
While folks panicked over missing breaking news and celebrity musings, Twitter managed to post a tweet about the issue-viewable only by those people it didn’t affect.
Twitter said the issue “was related to an internal code change” and added that “we reverted the change, which fixed the issue”.
Social media expert Warren Knight said the blackout would not help Twitter’s struggling public image, but that the firm should have no problem bouncing back.
The outage struck a number of locations around the globe, including Europe, the United States and Japan. At approximately 1745 GMT (1.45am, Jan 20, Malaysia Time) Twitter reported that some users were still having trouble accessing the service. There are already millions of sad face memes inspired by the shutdown, and the hashtag “Twitter Down” has been the top trending topic ever since service returned. Its social media rivals Facebook and Instagram have also dealt with periodic shutdowns.

“Some users are now experiencing problems accessing Twitter”.
This isn’t the first time that Twitter has experienced an outage.
This latest outage once again brings Twitter’s ongoing challenges into the spotlight.
There has been no response from Twitter on this and they are still refraining from talking about the problems that might have led to this.
“The loss of the micro-blogging site’s APIs multiplied the issue for all manner of developers, companies and organizations”, she said.
