Winter Weather to Hit Mid
A winter weather advisory is in effect for parts of north Alabama as up to 1 inch of snow/sleet is possible, according to the National Weather Service forecast office in Huntsville.
This storm brings a mix of snow, sleet, freezing rain and rain to the region Thursday night.
Areas affected also include Boone, Newton, Izard, Fulton, Sharp, Searcy, Stone, Independence, Johnson, Pope, Van Buren, Cleburne and Jackson counties. Due to temperatures remaining below freezing for our Northeastern counties and with surfaces below freezing as well, they will likely deal with some wintry precipitation to start off with tomorrow morning.
We do not expect anything other that some light rain at times for Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, and Anniston, where temperatures will rise into the mid 40s by afternoon. All and all if you are traveling north this morning into Tennessee, that’s where you are going to find the bigger travel issues and across north Georgia as well. This system is looking much stronger than the first one, which is something we will have to monitor.
Good afternoon, everyone. Snow continues to fall across much of central and eastern Kentucky. “[Monday] will be the coldest night so far”. The GFS forecast model below shows a decent band setting up around 7 a.m. Friday for most of the Mid-South. The chance of precipitation is 40 percent. More showers will impact the area tomorrow night but there is a potential for heavier rain on Thursday.
