Apple Releases Music Memos, A Recorder App For Musicians
Our conversation touches on T-Pain’s use of music apps to the way he’s strategizing new releases for digital distribution. That’s basically what Music Memos allows users to do, it lets them quickly capture, develop and organize their musical ideas right on the iPhone.
In addition, the Music Memos app can analyze the rhythm and chords of acoustic guitar and piano recordings, and can add drums and a bass line to these clips that play along with the music.
Music Memos is available for free on the App Store, and is compatible with iPhone 4S and newer, or iPad 2 and later.
The Drummer feature provides 9 EDM and acoustic virtual drummers that provide a backing track to your composition, while also offering a wider choice of amps for bass players.
Music Memos takes all this and makes the complex process of recording music from your guitar or keyboard as simple as hitting record, while keeping it as sonically rich as recording a three- or-four track music project in GarageBand.
Apple has released a brand new app that continues the company’s focus on music and artists.
Apple on Wednesday unveiled Music Memos, a free iOS app for anyone who is interested in creating music. First, it optimizes the app for the iPad Pro and both iPhones 6S, adding support for the larger screen and 3D Touch (respectively). The big new feature is Live Loops, which lets you create music by tapping cells and columns in a grid to trigger different samples, sort like DJ hardware controllers. The new iPad version adds an interface called Live Loops. It comes with a library of Apple-designed loop templates in genres ranging from EDM to rock to get you started.
Music Memos is not almost as complex as the pitch analysis tools offered by professional software such as Celemony’s Melodyne, but it’s still quite powerful for a mobile app. It’s the latter of which Apple has created a new app for, endearing the iPhone as the go-to device for singers and artists. In the music app, beyond GarageBand, you can also post instantly to SoundCloud, YouTube and iTunes.
The app is available now as a free download to iOS users in the App Store.
