Terminator Genisys Sequel Removed From Paramount’s Schedule
Cameron’s plate is pretty full at the moment, what with the Avatar sequel now in pre-production and gearing up for a 2017 release date.
It has been a busy day for release date swaps.
Again, people have been anticipating this move by Paramount since no real progress has been made in either Terminator 2 or Terminator 3, June 2018.
In any event, Deadline is reporting that Paramount Pictures said today that it has yanked the sequel known as Terminator 2 from its release schedule.
The Terminator films have been largely successful, though last summer’s Terminator: Genisys drew just $89.8M domestically, the lowest total for a Terminator film since the 1984 original.
Terminator: Genisys was supposed to be the first instalment of a new trilogy which would have potentially even included a TV series, but the critical and commercial reaction to the movie was not good. It did much better globally (especially in China), taking in a respectable $440 million worldwide off of a $155 million budget. Skydance spearheaded the relaunch of the iconic franchise. “All the steps have to be taken in unison”.
As for ‘Baywatch, ‘ Zac Efron, Alexandra Daddario, Kelly Rohrbach and newcomer Ilfenesh Hadera are starring with Johnson in the movie reboot of the 1990s television show ‘Baywatch.’ Seth Gordon is directing.
Terminator Genisys saw Arnold Schwarzeneggar return to his role from the hit franchise, alongside Emilia Clarke as a recast Sarah Conner. What do you think of the news?
