Best Moments from the Critics’ Choice Awards
Rising star Jacob Tremblay stole the show at Sunday’s Critics’ Choice Awards as he received his award for Best Young Actor/Actress.
The Canadian child actor had the audience completely in awe with his incredibly sweet acceptance speech, when he picked up the award for Best Young Actor for his role in the drama, Room.
The pint-sized star, who had to stand on a black box but still struggled to reach the microphone, said as he climbed on stage: “This is super cool”. He described it as “the best day of my life”.
Jacob Tremblay gave what is officially the cutest acceptance speech in history after winning the Critics Choice Award for Best Young Actor for his role of Jack in “Room”.
Thanking everyone from her mum to her make-up artist Schumar joked, ‘I’m allowed to be indulgent, I’m never going to get an award again’.
Oscar-nominated Sylvester Stallone won the best supporting actor for “Creed” while Alicia Vikander was declared the best supporting actress for “The Danish Girl”. “And I know where to put this – right beside my Millennium Falcon”. “I’m so sorry, you guys.” she said. However, the big victor of the night was “Mad Max: Fury Road” which took home 9 awards including Best Director for George Miller.
The discrepancies are understandable, considering that the Critics’ Choice Awards are voted on by hundreds of journalists, while the Oscars are voted on by thousands of people who actually work on movies. In the early part of the evening, the actors of “Spotlight” took home the best ensemble acting award. “Master of None” got it for Best Comedy series.
Schumer also scored the best actress in a comedy award for Trainwreck and collected the award wearing just one high-heeled sandal.
Leonardo DiCaprio was named best actor for “The Revenant”, which he also won at the Golden Globes the previous week.
The latest ceremony in the awards season drew a host of celebrities such as Jennifer Aniston, Helen Mirren and Kirsten Dunst and Oscar nominee Saoirse Ronan.
