The Oculus Rift costs $599 and is shipping in March
Earlier this week the company confirmed it would start taking pre-orders for the virtual reality headset from Wednesday, and that orders would ship with with Lucky’s Tale game and CCP’s EVE: Valkyrie.
Those who backed the Oculus Rift on Kickstarter pledged $300 or more to obtain a development kit of the VR hardware.
To use the headset, you’ll also need an Oculus-ready computer. Since then, several Oculus Rift prototypes made for developers have been released, but this is the first commercial version to go on sale.
“When you put on Oculus, you’ll feel like you instantly teleported into adventures like deep-sea diving, piloting a starfighter or playing in a band on stage”.
Oculus VR is taking preorders for its virtual reality gaming console, Oculus Rift.
It will also be available in some undisclosed retail locations starting in April. Here is a list of games confirmed for the Rift to help you decide if you’ll be jumping on the VR bandwagon. The price gets you the Rift headgear, headset with built in microphone, input devices and an Xbox One controller. And before we open Rift pre-orders to the world, we wanted to share one more special update with you, our Kickstarter community. That high price point will limit the possible audience, but presumably it will become more affordable over time. You’ll also get the Oculus Remote which can be used to easily browse the Oculus store, watch 360 video content, and play certain VR games. Oculus Touch controllers are not included as those have been delayed to 2H 2016.
And he said the product is getting good traction early on.
