Evans: Top Gear ‘most challenging’
Car-mad Chris Evans is bracing himself for a rocky ride in the driving seat at Top Gear. If you insist, we remind you that he said the following: “I’ll go down to Surrey, and I’ll do one last lap of that track before the f****** b******* sack me…”
He also joked that Clarkson is very tall, so “they’re even bigger shoes”. He explained: “There have been 34 presenters before me, so it’s a bit like Doctor Who – that’s one way of looking at it”.
There have been reports that Clarkson, Hammond and May were going to a rival channel in the UK but the terms of their contract mean that is not possible for at least two years. “Honestly, it’s not the furthest thing away from my mind, but it is quite distant compared to directors, producers, assistant producers, lighting and camera men, editors, production managers, production coordinators and runners. What auto should I use?” he wrote.
The last ever Top Gear to feature Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond was watched by 5.3 million people in June. “Californians have a habit of ringing at 11 p.m. and I couldn’t think straight as they do with their leaves and mineral water existence if I was halfway through my third bottle of Leoube”.
The source said: “There are a few options on the table, including a split deal with Netflix, which should allow the guys to get back to doing what they do best and make great television”. However, the trio are said to be considering a rival show via online services which fall outside the restrictions of their contract with the BBC.
