Tyrese Gibson thinks Chris Rock should step down as Oscars host
The 2016 Oscar Nominations have caused a stir on social media and among the Hollywood elite over a clear lack of diversity among the nominees.
Gibson praised the actions of Lee and Pinkett-Smith in his interview.
Gibson posted a screenshot of articles questioning whether Rock will continue to host amidst the controversy over the Oscars failing to recognize black actors with nominations for two years in a row. In fact, artists referred to the standard of choices as results that lacked diversity. Jada Pinkett Smith and Spike Lee have announced that they will not be attending the ceremony in protest.
“Chris Rock is the host of the Academy Awards, and to boycott him seems just as bad as what everybody is saying”, she said on the talk show “We have this conversation every year, and it pisses me off”. We’re just saying, “Yo, this is not cool.’ You can’t be doing this in 2016 and act as if no one is gonna notice”.
“Chris Rock do the right thing make a statement – were relying on you to DO the right thing”, he wrote. There’s absolutely no JOKE YOU CAN CRACK TO EVER CHANGE THE WAY MOST OF US FEEL.
He added, “Don’t keep showing up, acting as if you don’t know what’s going on, thinking about you Think about the future generation. We can not affect change if we don’t stand up for something”.
While some of the celebrities supporting the #OscarsSoWhite backlash are already noted film stars, Steve said Chris’ comedy career has primed him for this particular moment.
“Somebody was actually like am I gonna watch the motherf– Oscars”. I’m not going. My wife’s not going. “Everyone else can do what they want to do”.
Rapper 50 Cent is also urging Chris to step down as the show’s host for 2016, taking to Instagram to suggest Rock boycott the show and not fulfill his hosting duties.

Gibson told People magazine that the most appropriate response for Rock would not be to address the issue as host using his well-known stand-up comedy skills, but to boycott the ceremony altogether.
