Shelby County under Winter Weather Advisory
Memphis and Shelby County are under a winter weather advisory until Wednesday morning, according to the National Weather Service.
The advisory warns of a threat of freezing rain and sleet tonight into tomorrow morning at 6 a.m.
“Drivers still need to use caution while driving”, Fisher said.
A winter storm that has areas of the eastern United States bracing for several inches of snow this weekend could also drop snow in Arkansas.
Furthermore, there is a 50-percent chance of measurable snowfall Wednesday night and Thursday. It is valid for information we have available through Thursday night, January 21, 2016. The snow and sleet will turn to rain Thursday afternoon. Low around 34. New ice accumulation of less than a 0.1 of an inch possible.
Daytime will be rainy (another 90% chance of showers) but Friday night’s low is predicted to be 31 degrees, bringing a chance of snow mixed in with the rain.
Roads may become snow-packed or slick resulting in hazardous travel conditions.
The region’s minimum temperature for overnight is expected to be -4 °C.
Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 39. After midnight, snow replaces rain in the forecast, but sleet remains a constant.
