More fines likely from Steelers-Bengals game, but not suspensions

Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict has been suspended for the first three games of the 2016 season, the National Football League announced on Monday night.

Per the NFL, Burfict has previously been fined four times during the 2015 season for safety-related violations.

Lewis declined to single out Burfict or Jones for their game-changing penalties, other than to say that some players lost their cool at the end of the game.

This isn’t as big a deal as Burfict lining up Antonio Brown’s head and knocking him limp, but it’s still no small thing.

Adam “Pacman” Jones isn’t buying that Brown was actually hurt, though, and the Bengals cornerback since has made some pointed comments about the situation.

But both players – quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown – have a chance to be ready Sunday for a divisional-round playoff game in Denver. Roethlisberger went back in and drove the Steelers to midfield, where the Bengals had the Steelers stopped before the penalties on Burfict and Jones.

“I’m good now, I’ve had my 10 minutes”, Jones said. “And I think it’s a huge deal”. I said what I said after the game.

“DeAngelo is still kind of on the outside looking in”, Tomlin said during his Tuesday press conference. That, along with a subsequent unsportsmanlike conduct call on Jones, put the Steelers in position to kick the game-winning field goal.

Jones had never played in a playoff game before Saturday.

In my honest opinion, unless Roethlisberger recovers dramatically during the week, I believe that he should not try to take the field. You don’t have to be a football expert to see that Brown may have indeed suffered a serious concussion and he could be out Sunday for the Steelers’ game against the Denver Broncos.

Steelers linebacker James Harrison, who spent one season in Cincinnati with his locker next to Burfict’s, said in Pittsburgh that Burfict is always pushing the line of what’s accepted.

If even one of those two can’t go for Pitt, the face of the game changes dramatically.
