Four Huawei P9 versions reportedly coming this year
Chinese company Huawei prides itself with one of the most powerful mobile chipsets available on the market. While we don’t see that happening, we may get four variants of the handset known as the Huawei P9 if a new report pans out. According to a source familiar with the matter, Huawei is planning to launch a small range of P9 flagship smartphones this year, which should have a wide range of consumer preferences covered.
Of the four, the P9lite is said to be the more budget-friendly offering, while the P9max is being said to be a successor to the P8max.
The fourth Huawei P9 model is believed be more of a phablet with a bigger screen, more storage and RAM, plus enhanced cameras.
Although, not much is known about the P9 (or its three other variants) yet, the report claims that the phone (and any of its variants) will not have a QuadHD screen resolution. It will also have a dual rear camera sensor with 12 megapixels to help capture more vivid, detailed photos.
Moreover, Huawei will not be launching the P9 at the upcoming MWC event in Barcelona, adds the report. There’s also a mention of QHD screens coming to the P9 handsets but we’re not sure if that’s a good idea since battery usually drains faster with higher resolution displays. “Reports had earlier said that the Huawei P9 will have a 5.9” display with an octa-core Kirin processor and 6GB of RAM. The company won’t launch any of the new models at MWC either as they are said to come via a separate announcement a few weeks after the big show wraps up.
Huawei has not confirmed the launch date of the P9. Not long ago, we saw a diagram that allegedly presented the design of the P9 (see below), including a dual rear camera, and a hardware home button that may include a fingerprint scanner.
