North Korea says detains U.S. student for ‘hostile act’
The state news agency claimed that the student entered North Korea nominally for tourism, though the real intention was to undermine North Korea’s unity under the USA government’s acquiescence and control.
Reuters also reported American officials at the US embassy in South Korea are aware of his current detainment.
There were no further details on what the act was – but officials said it was “tolerated and manipulated by the U.S. government”.
KCNA identified the student as Warmbier Otto Frederick, a student at the University of Virginia.
