Trump, Palin blames Obama for son’s arrest
Dismissing Cruz’s recent attack that he is the favored candidate of the establishment, Trump said, “We’ve got to be a little establishment”.
On the contrary, says Tom Zawistowski of the Portage County Tea Party, it could actually hurt Trump more than help him. “And I would note that Mr. Dole then opposed Reagan, and said we need someone who can go to Washington who can cut a deal”. Since the evidence is pretty strong that parties still control presidential nominations, Palin is just making things harder for Trump. Trump’s overall positive/negative score is 29% positive, 58% negative (-29) while that of Cruz is 31% positive, 35% negative (-4).
Donald Trump is now leading the field, with 34.8 per cent support nationally, followed by Mr Cruz with 18.8 and Mr Rubio at 11.6 per cent.
Palin, during a rally for GOP front-runner Donald Trump, suggested it was Obama’s fault her 26-year-old son Track, who spent a year deployed in Iraq with the Army, came back from war with post-traumatic stress disorder.
“We have a right to be angry and upset about the direction of our country”, said Rubio.
As of this week, 15.6 percent of the state’s Republican voters say they want him to be the next president, whereas only 6.2 percent did in September. In 2014, Cruz was not yet an official candidate, but the Texas Republican nevertheless made a lot of public appearances before far-right audiences, laying the groundwork for his future campaign. During an interview on CNN, Donald Trump was asked “Do you think it’s fair to link the president with her son’s issues?”
It was no accident that two Iowa GOP icons – Chuck Grassley and Bob Dole – attacked Ted Cruz the day after Iowa’s Republican governor said a vote for the Texas senator would be bad for the lead-off caucus state.
“I think it’s Trump”, Dole told the Times.
Cruz talked health care, social security, and national security, but also talked a bit more than usual about his personal life. “We’ve got to get along with people”.
Cruz responded to the Trump endorsement by saying he “loves” Palin and will always be her fan.
