Sedin sets Canucks’ career goals mark in 4-2 win over Bruins

The Bruins surrendered three third-period goals Thursday night and never led as they fell to the Vancouver Canucks in a surprisingly cordial contest at TD Garden. Boston is now 24-17-5, fourth in the Atlantic Division.

The decisive goal came off the stick of Daniel Sedin at 7:03 of the third period.

Since his call up in November, Vatrano has scored six goals with one assist in 30 games, including a hat trick against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Then, another 2011 Cup Final alum had his turn. That third goal, which came when Sedin buried a rebound that Zach Trotman was unable to corral, proved to be all the Canucks needed.

Although a handful of the major players remained, this was not a repeat of some of the Bruins-Canucks matchups from years past.

STARS 3, OILERS 2: Jamie Benn scored his 27th goal, and the Dallas Stars beat the Edmonton Oilers 3-1 on Thursday night to end a season-high four-game losing streak. A brief first-period scuffle between Kevan Miller and Derek Dorsett represented the extent of the illegality.

Krejci’s return from an upper body that cost him 10 games, plus the availability of winger Landon Ferraro after a one-game absence with a lower-body issue, prompted a frenzy of roster and lineup shakeups. The center logged 16:39 of ice time and registered one shot on goal. The speedy Canuck winger took an excellent pass from Radim Vrbata, and blew past Bruin David Pastrnak before appearing to loose control of the puck. Tanev stayed down a second or two, then got back into the play and David Pastrnak got the puck to Hayes, who cut out from behind the Canucks’ net on his forehand, reaching the top of the circle and ripping a wrister off of Tanev’s tail pad and past Jacob Markstrom to make it 1-1.

“We’ve got to keep putting pressure, and we saw some good results out of it”, center Patrice Bergeron told the Bruins’ official website after scoring for the third time in two games in Tuesday’s 4-1 victory at Montreal. The Canucks signed C Mike Zalewski earlier this week and recalled him from Utica for his third National Hockey League game, his first since the last two games of the 2013-14 season…. Boston activated Krejci from injured reserve Thursday and assigned F Frank Vatrano to the Providence Bruins of the AHL….
