PM monitoring progress on Charsada attack
Following Wednesday’s horrific attack on Bacha Khan University in the northwest Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province the top civilian and military leadership affirmed that the nation’s determination to counter the menace had not been affected by the strike in Charsadda district of the province, Dawn reported.
Prime Minister (PM) said on Thursday that Pakistan is successfully eliminating the terrorism from the country and growing economically.
“So I think we were successful on all these three fronts and with the terrorism coming down, and militancy reducing, the economy is picking up”.
Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Friday invited Swiss and global investors to Pakistan’s energy, telecom, infrastructure, urban development, agro-industry and textiles sectors that offer exciting opportunities for investment.
“We inherited GDP growth of 3 per cent and now we are 4.2 per cent and we expect 5 per cent this year”.
“We have linked (talks with action by Pakistan)”, foreign office spokesperson Vikas Swarup had said on January 14, in a balancing act where he also stressed that the broader dialogue remained intact.
He said that CPEC was not limited to Pakistan alone rather it would benefit the entire region.
A government official said the U.S. was taken into confidence on the investigations conducted so far into the Pathankot incident.
The other participants conveyed their grief over the loss of precious lives in the terror strike on Bacha Khan University and said the challenge of terrorism needs to be addressed through cooperation.
The prime minister of Sri Lanka said South Asia had achieved little progress in many areas as security was the main issue, particularly in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
