Wade starts 10th all-star game
Cleveland Cavaliers small forward LeBron James has been selected to start his 12th straight NBA All-Star Game, the NBA announced on Thursday, shortly before the Cavaliers tipped off against the Los Angeles Clippers at Quicken Loans Arena. Currently, James has 278 points in 11 all-star games, and is just two in back of Bryant for first in National Basketball Association history.
This is James’ 12th consecutive selection to the NBA All-Star Game, with the previous 11 appearances all coming as an Eastern Conference starter.
LeBron James is going to be a starter for the East, earning the most fan votes in the conference with 1,089,206 votes.
In 2015-16, the 6-foot-8 forward has appeared in 39 games (all starts) with averages of 25.1 points (fifth in NBA) on.
In addition to his scoring prowess, James has averaged 6.18 assists, 6.45 rebounds and 1.54 steals in the NBA All-Star Game. 502 shooting from the field, 7.2 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 1.4 steals in 35.7 minutes per game. “No one wants to see fadeaways in the All-Star Game”, Wade quipped earlier this week.
Westbrook was named the Most Valuable Player of last year’s All-Star Game.
The NBA All-Star Game will be Sunday, Feb. 14 at Air Canada Centre in Toronto.
A year after he was overtaken in the final tally by Toronto Raptors guard Kyle Lowery, the 34-year-old Miami Heat guard led all Eastern Conference guards with 941,466 votes to become an All-Starter for the 10th time in his career.
