Students, staff return to class following bomb threat at Ed White High
There will be increased police presence at Gardiner Area High School after the school was the target of a bomb threat hoax on Tuesday.
The school said it could not release the student’s name or any other information. He said he did not believe the threat made against the Methuen school on Wednesday came from a current Methuen High School student. Numerous threats are automated telephone calls, officials have said.
She said Gardiner police arrived within minutes to help assess the threat and safely dismiss the staff and students. The anonymity of the student charged with making the threat was short-lived, however, because Scannell said students are required to sign out of class to go to the lavatory.
Classes are canceled at Saint Ignatius High School in Cleveland on Thursday, but it’s not because of wicked wintry weather.
Schools have responded to the threats in different ways.
The decision to not evacuate Nashoba Tech’s students was made by Superintendent Judith Klimkiewicz, according to Rhodes, noting that the building was cleared after being searched.
“As of right now there is nothing to tell us it was a legitimate threat”. Last week, there were threats at Falmouth, Bourne, Mashpee, Plymouth, Weymouth, Arlington and Boston (Boston College High School).
“After we assess what happened, we relocate all students and staff to a safe place”, he said. While the officers were searching the premises, the school underwent a “no one in, no one out” policy.
A school official confirmed to WKBN that the students were sent home after initially being evacuated to the district’s intermediate building.
Newton North High School interim Principal Mark Arson released a statement confirming his school’s main office received a “threatening phone call” at 10:40 a.m. January 19.
“Everything was done to ensure the safety of the students”, Rhodes said.
