Former US police officer sentenced to 263 years prison for raping women

When Holtzclaw ran their names through the police system, he found many had warrants or outstanding tickets.

The judge denied a defense motion filed a day earlierseeking a new trial.
After the decision was made, Holtzclaw was taken back into custody to begin his sentence.
However, sentencing was delayed for more than three hours due to a motion for a new trial.
Police tracked Holtzclaw’s movements via Global Positioning System to confirm that he’d been to the homes of the victims and to corroborate other evidence against him. Adams said that the post proved to be a new evidence in the case, as reported by KOCO.
The detective, Jake McClain, testified Thursday. He told the court Thursday that the post was “not entirely” true and that he was never assigned to work on Holtzclaw’s case. Holtzclaw, a former Oklahoma City police officer, was convicted of raping and sexually victimizing several women on his beat. All the crimes took place from December 2013 to June 2014.
Daniel Holtzclaw, 29, was told he would spend the rest of his life in prison during an emotionally-charged court appearance.
A crowd gathered outside the courtroom to hear Ligons deliver her message again. Ligons has previously agreed to be identified as one of the victims.
Another victim, 24-year-old Shandegreon “Sade” Hill, told CNN she was intoxicated the night Holtzclaw arrested her.

Former Oklahoma City police officer and convicted rapist Daniel Holtzclaw was sentenced finally today [Thursday, January 21] after a a series of delays.
But prosecutors and victims believe justice was served.
But as Vox’s Dara Lind pointed out, these 990 police officers were the ones who were caught and then punished for their actions.
The case is infamous for Holtzclaw’s deliberate and calculating manner in which he chose his victims.
On court records, Holtzclaw is listed as “Asian or Pacific Islander”. “We will lock you up”, Prater said.
