Capitals, Wizards home games postponed because of blizzard
The Penguins game scheduled for Sunday against the Washington Capitals at Verizon Center is now still on, despite the massive storm expected to hit the East coast and potentially cripple the Washington D.C. area this weekend.
Despite Washington’s dominance, and the fact that snow had not yet begun to fall, tickets for the matchup were going for as low as $18 on Stubhub at time of posting.
In Washington, the George Washington’s women’s basketball game against visiting George Mason has been rescheduled for Friday at noon instead of Saturday, while the George Mason’s men’s basketball game against Duquesne in Fairfax, Virginia, has been moved up from Saturday to Friday afternoon in the hopes of avoiding the storm.
“There is never too much snow on the slopes”, said Joe Stevens, spokesman for the West Virginia Ski Areas Association. Anaheim is getting plenty out of goaltender John Gibson, who leads the National Hockey League with a 1.86 goals-against average, although only two of his 10 wins have been recorded on the road.ABOUT THE CAPITALS (35-8-3): Evgeny Kuznetsov followed up a three-assist performance in Sunday’s 5-2 win over the New York Rangers with a career-high four more versus the Blue Jackets. The Washington Post’s Jorge Castillo reported earlier that the National Basketball Association has postponed Saturday’s game between the Wizards and Utah Jazz. The game had been set for Saturday afternoon.
When that game would be made up remains uncertain. And the prices are likely to continue dropping as the storm nears.
