TMC is supreme in West Bengal: Mamata
BJP leader Siddharth Nath Singh said, “Mamata Banerjee should introspect before raising her finger at BJP…”
Ms Bannerjee said, “We are fighting against Centre’s decision to slash funds for Central schemes… our fight will continue and we will spread this movement from Bengal to Delhi…”
In an obvious reference to BJP, which in recent months has been facing flak over Lalitgate and Vyapam scam, Banerjee said those who were themselves involved in corruption should not lecture TMC on corruption. Right it down: in 2016, we will break all previous records and will register a landslide victory.
In a muscle-flexing exercise, the party will also parade its yet another flock of Congress and Left leaders who are set to join the party Tuesday.
She said those trying to spread riots will be dealt with and TMC will court death but not bow before the Centres ruling party. We will not bow our heads in front of anyone. “Our fight is against the wrong principles, against injustice, against the fact that the Centre has stopped giving funds, against the neglect of Bengal”, Banerje said at a Trinamool Congress rally here. “In Jungalmahal (the formerly Naxal dominated areas) we give people rice for Rs 2 per kilo. TMC (Trinamool Congress) can do it (fight) alone, with dignity and its head held high…” she added.
TMC leader Sudip Bandopadhayay said there would not force like the Left after the next years election in 2016 and he would not be surprised if TMC bags more than 250 seats in the state Assembly. She also mocked “Swachh Bharat” and “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” schemes of the Centre.
“Party members should start preparing for the polls and serve people better”, she said.
“Out of which Rs 50 crore are spent on advertisements only”.
Citing instances where the state had been able to make available land for big projects, Banerjee said the Andal greenfield airport and NTPC’s Katwa project were among them. Mamata Banerjee was referring to the UNESCO awards to Nadia (first), Burdwan (second) and Hooghly (third) districts for stopping open defecation practices and introducing the use of toilets.
The TMC supremo, while attacking the various schemes undertaken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA Government in its one year in office, emphasized on the Kanyashree scheme for girl students, monthly stipends to Imams, fair price shop for medicine for the poor and restoration of normal life in Darjeeling hills, which was hit by Gorkhaland agitations.
The Congress accused Banerjee of stifling democracy and said she was playing politics with martyrs.
