Civilian killed in Kashmir grenade attack
A civilian was killed and five others including a paramilitary CRPF trooper sustained splinter injuries in a grenade attack at Achabal Adda in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
However, 55-year-old civilian Mohammad Jabar succumbed to injuries, the official said.
The civilians and a CRPF trooper were injured when separatist guerrillas tossed a grenade at a bus stand in Anantnag district.
He said the target of the grenade attack was apparently a patrol party of security forces but the device missed the intended target and exploded on the roadside. They have been admitted to a local hospital and given all possible treatment.
He said that the Special Operation Group comprising the police ad the para-military forces has launched a massive search operation to nab the terrorists responsible for the attack.
Terrorists on Friday exploded three grenades, targeting mobile communication facilities, at Karan Nagar and Shaheed Gunj localities of Srinagar. One person was injured in the attacks.
