Alabama’s jobless rate rises to 6.2 percent in December
In Oregon, the year-over-year unemployment rate fell from 6.7 percent in December 2014 to 5.4 percent last month.
Placer County had the region’s lowest unemployment rate in December of 4.6 percent.
Over the year, nonfarm payroll employment in IL decreased by about 3,000 jobs, IDES analysts said.
The state’s rate continues to track below the national rate of 5 percent for December. These included other services, construction, retail trade, financial activities, and leisure and hospitality. The jobless rate opened the year at 5.7 percent.
IL ended 2015 with 3,000 fewer jobs than the state had in December 2014.
IL lost 16,300 jobs in December, and the number of unemployed workers increased 4.9 percent from the prior month to 390,000. “Nearly every industry added jobs with the notable exception of oil and gas”.
The agency also said employment grew by about 4,100 new jobs from October to November.
December’s employment numbers show IL is continuing to lose jobs.
The local rate remained at 5.8 percent. All four increases were relatively small, and coincided with total employment and workforce gains over those months.
Amarillo had the lowest average unemployment rate for Texas last month at 2.9 percent.
The decreasing unemployment rates represent a trend that has had falling jobless figures for most of the a year ago.
