India plane makes emergency landing after bomb call
A Bhubaneswar-Mumbai bound GoAir flight had to make an emergency landing early Saturday in Nagpur after a bomb scare.
A GoAir spokesperson confirmed the incident, saying the flight that took off from Bhubaneshwar at 8:20 am, landed at Nagpur at 9:29 am.
A thorough check was carried inside by the airport security personnel, but nothing suspicious was found on the flight after its emergency landing.
The National Investigation Agency said on Friday that bomb-making material was also seized in the raids conducted in four different states, amid stepped up security for next week s Republic Day celebrations.
The carrier said local police were investigating the threat. After sometime, a person identifying himself as Mohapatra telephoned the airport authorities regarding the bomb inside the flight following which the plane was grounded at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport in Nagpur. “We are are trying to locate the mobile phone from which the miscreant made the hoax call”, Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi said.
