Japan to lift sanctions on Iran: FM
The lifting of nuclear sanctions, coupled with the imposition of new missile sanctions is an important reminder that the nuclear deal with Iran will not solve all of the disagreements between our two countries. Consequently, Iran released five American prisoners as part of a prisoner exchange with the US.
The United States insists Iran’s ballistic missile tests violated U.N. sanctions sanctions that will remain in effect for at least eight more years under the terms of the nuclear accord.
“The decision and the successful implementation of the agreement regarding Iran’s nuclear program represent an important step opening up new opportunities for the region and the entire world”, said the Georgian Ministry.
U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, who along with other top diplomats worked closely with Zarif to reach the deal, has indicated that he hopes Iran will take a positive role in resolving conflicts in places like Yemen and Syria. There is already considerable political pressure within the US on the Obama administration to be tough on Iran as a result of its ongoing efforts in support of terrorism, regional instability in the Middle East, and missile proliferation. “We will have to try and act as a Congress”, said Sen.
Only days after the Obama White House announced the completion of the details of the nuclear deal with Iran that released billions of dollars to the rogue Islamic sponsor of terror in exchange for delays in its nuclear program, another Middle East government is calling for the launch of its own pathway to nuclear power, according to a new report in Joseph Farah’s G2 Bulletin.
Barack Obama & Co can blather all they like about the nuclear deal and attendant prisoner swap as constituting a victory for “diplomacy”. President Rouhani must be able to demonstrate to voters that the hard decisions he has made will truly advance the well-being of his people. Moreover, the European Union (EU) has lifted most of its sanctions that had prohibited certain Iranian transactions by EU companies. If the choice is between guns or butter, most Iranians appear ready to choose butter. That’s just another way of saying we have the rule of law, they don’t. Having been a pariah state on the global economic stage for more than a decade, it can hardly afford not to. Iran was getting very close to breakout capacity – the point where it would have had enough fissile material for a bomb – which was a recipe for a war that very likely would have involved America. But, in fact, pragmatic and forward thinking American foreign policy must look beyond the rhetoric of the current regime. Half of the kingdom’s population of 29 million is under age 25.
The beauty of sanctions for those who deploy them, Rudy noted, resides in their “seemingly bureaucratic, lawful, objective, transparent, and non-violent” nature, which provides a civilised veneer for what can amount to the decimation of populations.
III. U.S. Sanctions Against Iran – What’s Next?
If it were possible to separate all of these stories into a box and call Iran a country with “bad human rights” but “improving foreign policy”, then maybe there would be a case for ignoring them. A non-U.S. parent company can not involve its USA subsidiaries or affiliates, US citizens or nationals, wherever located, or even non-U.S. nationals located in the US (e.g., on visits or temporary assignment in the U.S.) in any business activities related to Iran.
