Donald Trump Hits Back at President Obama and Nikki Haley
“I think some of the things she has done over the a year ago are remarkable”.
The governor, who led the charge to remove the Confederate battle flag from the South Carolina State House grounds after the Charleston church shooting, solidified her place on the list of potential Republican vice presidential candidates, though not on Trump’s.
Those comments echoed Obama’s speech, in which he rejected Trump’s doom-and-gloom message.
Danik: Would she be a possible vice presidential candidate with you? “Here’s what I would say to the governor: It would be good if she could consult with people who are dealing with immigration policy, and it would be good if she would recognize that not everybody can live in America”, said U.S. Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, one of the Republican Party’s staunchest opponents to comprehensive immigration reform.
Today our lives are filled with threats and during anxious times, it could be tempting to follow the angriest voices.
While saying the US can not allow illegal immigration and must not allow in refugees “whose intentions can not be determined”, Haley said that “no one who is willing to work hard, abide by our laws, and love our traditions should ever feel unwelcome in this country”.
“And in this age of terrorism, we must not let in refugees whose intentions can not be determined”, Haley said, giving a call for fixing “our broken immigration system”.
Trump chimed in on “Fox and Friends” Wednesday morning, giving Haley a thumbs down and labeling her “very weak” on illegal immigration.
He also suggested that she would be petitioning him for campaign donations if he were not running for president.
Hugh Hewitt and Ann Coulter sparred over SC governor Nikki Haley as well as Ted Cruz ‘s eligibility for president, with Hewitt telling Coulter “you can’t just make stuff [up]”.
HH: Now you don’t really want to deport Nikki Haley.
“She liked me better when I was a giver of contributions than she does when I’m not”, Trump said, adding that he is leading in Haley’s state of SC.
“And so what I say to Mr Trump is, don’t take it personally”.
“On one level, I wasn’t surprised to see some of the themes of the speech given that”, he said.
AC: …because I was angry at her response to the, I mean, if we could, I’d be open to it, don’t get me wrong.
This still isn’t quite correct: After World War I a series of immigration restrictions were passed that explicitly favored northern European whites; limited immigration of Southern and Eastern Europeans; and banned Asian immigrants nearly entirely.
The South Carolina governor – who has been widely mentioned as a likely Republican vice presidential candidate – won praise for her remarks from fellow Republican elected officials, from many Democrats and from spokesmen at the White House. (She was born Nimrata Randhawa) Anand tweeted, “Do figures like @nikkihaley & @BobbyJindal help to euthanize or medicate the dying idea of America-as-whiteness?”
Trump said, “I mean, she comes up to my office when she wants campaign contributions and I’ve given her tremendous contributions over the years. That’s what she delivered”.
