Trump, Sanders take solid leads in first primary contests
In her second presidential bid, a defeat in Iowa could be considered a major setback for the Clinton campaign, as this is traditionally expected to set the pace and tone of the rest of the presidential season.
The self-described democratic socialist fared better among Democrats on economic policy and support for the middle class. They preferred the former secretary of state on foreign policy.
But unlike her appearance in Iowa last week, when she said Sanders “hasn’t really thought it through” on foreign policy, she told detailed stories about her own experiences making big decisions in the Situation Room while serving as Obama’s secretary of state.
“She is using her voice not only to sing and inspire us through that – she’s using her voice to reach out to so many people who need a little bit of help themselves”, Clinton said.
Earlier in Clinton’s interview, she addressed Sanders’ assertion that Planned Parenthood and the Humans Rights Campaign endorsed Clinton because the organization’s are also part of the establishment.
Hillary Clinton suggested on Thursday while campaigning in Iowa that Sen.
One day after lighting into her chief rival for the Democratic presidential nomination in Iowa, Hillary Clinton conspicuously avoided mentioning Bernie Sanders during an hour-long town hall meeting Friday in a Rochester, New Hampshire, opera house.
Clinton says she supports a “no-fly zone” over rebel-controlled northern Syria, something Sanders and President Obama oppose. “I still think she’s in a good place”.
The comment was the 2016 candidate’s starkest assessment of the fact she is looking up at Sanders in the Granite State and a nod to the fact she lost Iowa in 2008 but won the New Hampshire primary a week later. “However, he would still have to overcome Clinton’s demographic advantage in the ensuing contests”, Patrick Murray, director of the Monmouth University Polling Institute, said in a statement accompanying the poll. She says this would keep refugees safe from ISIS and the Al-Assad regime. “These are two of the really great human rights, progressive organizations in our country”, Clinton said.
HILLARY CLINTON: I just don’t understand what that means. “I Googled it for them”. Marco Rubio by 18 points.
While they “share numerous same goals”, Ms Clinton said, they have “different records and different ideas on how to drive progress”.
Bottom line: Clinton has been ahead in most polls of this state – though it seems highly unlikely she would win by 29 points.
