Apple said to release 4-inch iPhone 5se in March – April
If the rumours are true, Apple will launch an iPhone with a 4-inch screen after the iPhone 5s and 5c. The 4-inch screen (and presumably its 1136×640 resolution) will be retained, but the edges of the phone and the front glass will be curved instead of squared off as they are in the iPhone 5 and 5S.
Though earlier reports had speculated that the 4-inch iPhone will apparently be called “iPhone 6C, ‘ sources have now revealed that the official name of the handset is expected to be “iPhone 5SE;’ with “SE” either standing for ‘special edition” or an ‘enhanced” iPhone 5S version.
Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 5SE sometime during the last few weeks of March or early in April. Apple is also said to have plans to launch another Apple Watch dubbed Apple Watch 2 later this year around September with major hardware improvements and design changes. A recently leaked online video indicates that the upcoming device may be an iPhone 6 look-alike. It will have same hardware as of iPhone 5s. It will likely have 16GB internal storage and 1GB RAM.
The report claims that the iPhone 5se will come in Silver, Space Gray, and Rose Gold colour combinations – as seen on the iPhone 6s/ 6s Plus lineup. The report also claims iPhone 5se will support Live Photos, but it won’t come with a pressure sensitive 3D Touch display. Rumors say Apple will wait until September to officially unveil the Apple Watch 2 with the iPhone 7. The company aims to provide users an wide range of new color band options.
New bands are reportedly made of a new material, though it’s not clear if Apple is updating its polyelastomer material or not.
From the looks of it, the new budget iPhone will have a lot to share with the current iPhone 6s except for the smaller dimensions. Apple’s event could happen during the week of March 14th. TechCrunch first suggested that Apple wasn’t planning to launch a full update to the Apple Watch this spring.
That said, the report adds that Apple isn’t fully convinced about launching the iPad Air 3 at its mid-March event.
