Hidden meaning behind poem will brighten your day
There’s not much known about how this poem got to a London bar, but Mashable traced it back to a Brooklyn, New York, high schooler named Chanie Gorkin – the poem is attributed to her on PoetryNation.com.
The poem originated as a school assignment in which the students were told to write about their worst day ever, Dena Gorkin said, adding that her family is Hasidic and studies Hasidic philosophy. After seeing the poem tacked on a wall of Nambucca Bar in London, Joice took a photo and posted it to Twitter. She’s unavailable for comment, but her mom is happy to chat. But her entire family enjoys it. If something amusing happens or there’s a celebration, it’s not unusual for her, her husband, or one of her six kids to write a poem as a gift for another. Even ifSome goodness does shine through once in a whileSatisfaction and happiness don’t last.
Now read it from bottom to top, the other way, And see what I really feel about my day.
Gorkin’s poem has been featured on other sites as well before it started getting attention more recently.
“I think Chanie’s poem has become popular because there’s a lot of darkness in this world, and something uplifting like this really resonates”, says her mother. Chanie has yet to confirm that this is her work, but hopefully it is hers and she is excited to be brightening people’s days.
“I was floored”, Dena Gorkin said of her reaction to the poem.
