Ebenezer Baptist Church’s service is the culmination of a series of events centering around radical issues. It capped more than a week of events meant to celebrate the slain civil-rights icon’s legacy under the theme: “Remember!”
“Today, we take a moment to celebrate what Dr. King has done. So, we can really step up the game, because we still have a long ways to go”. “We are trying to help our neighbors unlock their potential”, said Kevin Cox.
U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julian Castro told the church audience about King’s trip to Chicago.
“Dr. King was a community-minded person, and when you’re involved in your community you can do great things”, said Mark Sain, of the Milwaukee Public School Board. In St. Paul, protesters want the case of Marcus Golden reopened. “They’re new in life”.
About 30 minutes later, California Highway Patrol officers were pulling about a dozen protesters from cars and pulling their cars to the side of the road.
