Trump renews feud with Fox’s Megyn Kelly
Trump has more words for Megyn Kelly.
Fox News contends there is no conflict of interest in having Megyn Kelly host the upcoming Republican debate, after frontrunner Donald Trump complained on Twitter.
A Fox News spokesperson defended Kelly, saying that she is perfectly capable of moderating the debate fairly. You once told a contestant on Celebrity Apprentice it would be a pretty picture to see her on her knees.
Indeed, Fox formally announced last December that Kelly would be a moderator even though Trump had been furiously attacking her since August, when she moderated the first Fox debate.
The real estate mogul’s Tweet from Saturday stokes the fire ahead of Thursday’s Fox News debate, which will be moderated by Kelly, Bret Baier and Chris Wallace. Kelly asked Trump about misogynist and sexist comments he had made in the past, calling women names including “fat pigs” and “slobs”. He subsequently unleashed a weeks-long attack on the network host, which only ended after a meeting with Fox News Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes. He also said the controversial subject with Kelly during the debate was “fun” and that only a deviant would think he was talking about her menstrual cycle.
A former corporate attorney, Kelly, 44, has strongly insisted that the two-hour candidate forum back in August was “good journalism” rather than gotcha journalism.
In a tweet, the Republican front-runner said: “Based on @MegynKelly’s conflict of interest and bias she should not be allowed to be a moderator of the next debate”.
