Panthers Trample Seahawks, Head Into NFC Championship
Carolina’s not without its own pursuit of redemption, some of it already obtained through a game with just as much drama. They were being manhandled by the Carolina Panthers and despite a valiant effort in the second half, the Seahawks just were not able to come away with the win. With strong defense and offensive juggernaut, the Panthers went on to have a big 31-0 lead at halftime, and the Seahawks couldn’t recover with that deficit. That’s pretty good. He passed for three touchdowns and completed 65 percent of his attempts, also pretty good.
Lynch gained just 20 yards on six carries during the loss to Carolina. Though he waited until the end of the game on Sunday, Newton still gave the Seahawks flag a fitting sendoff.
“It’s my fault”, Wilson said. We just got to keep putting it back together. “I put us behind the 8-ball a little bit”.
The scoring barrage continued as the Panthers outgained the Seahawks 155 yards to 25 and had eight first downs to one in the opening quarter.
His return from a foot injury that cost him three games was far more distinguished than Marshawn Lynch’s comeback from a two-month absence (abdominal surgery).
Sunday, linebacker Luke Kuechly was on the front line.
Newton said the key will be to not make mistakes and, if the team gets a lead, to not let off the gas. He did throw two interceptions though.
“There are hard decisions we have to make and we’ll make them”, Carroll said. We’ve had sharp clients on Arizona many times this season, and we suspect the early action to come on the underdog side. “Stayed in the moment, and I thought we did a great job of that in the second half”.
“I’m telling you”, Newton said, “these hands are tailgate approved”.
The Seahawks have won at least 10 games in each of the last four seasons and made the playoffs in five of the last six years. “He was right on point with it”. He was upended by Derrick Coleman, but held on to the ball as he hit the ground. Rawls, who rushed for 830 yards, said he expects to be ready in plenty of time for next season.
The Panthers’ offense shut down and the defense allowed Russell Wilson and Seattle to repeatedly march down the field in the second half to nearly pull off a comeback that would have ended Carolina’s season.
It’s not the first time Newton has taken down a rival’s flag.
But, he turned it up in the second half in both the passing and running game. “We had to come out swinging”.
Arizona won in its only other NFC championship game appearance in 2008 before losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers 27-23 in the Super Bowl. On the third drive, newly signed Cortland Finnegan intercepted Wilson on the first play of the drive to set up a Carolina field goal.
