Celine Dion says final goodbye to her late husband
As Celine Dion, 47, arranged to say farewell to her last to her late spouse Rene Angelil at an open review in Montreal on January 21, the Hollywood symbol took to Instagram to offer her affection and backing to the lamenting vocalist with one amazingly moving return photograph.
Rene’s funeral is schedule for 3 p.m. EST on Friday.
Celine Dion announced that a national funeral for Angélil will be held today at the basilica and will be televised.
Her son Rene-Charles followed close behind with Dion’s mother, Therese. “Dad, I promise you here that we’re all going to live up to your standards”.
As his mother looked on, René-Charles promised his father that he would impart the knowledge he had learned from him onto his younger siblings, five-year-old twins Eddy and Nelson.
Dignitaries such as Sophie Gregoire-Trudeau, Quebec Premier Phillippe Couillard, former Prime Minister Brian Mulroney and Tom Mulcair were just some of the political figures in attendance.
“In a few instances, because of my lovely skin colour, I wasn’t always admitted to places”. “All our life, our father told us, ‘I love you’. There’s no show.’ He was adamant”, he said.
During the wake, Dion is said to have greeted all the mourners, who included political figures from Canada, as well as friends and family.
Every visitor received a card with a message from the singer, who stayed at the Basilica well past midnight.
Clutching her copy of Paris Match magazine featuring a cover story on Dion and Angelil, Andrea Marier said the couple’s story – in which Angelil plucked Dion, then a teen from Charlemagne, Quebec, from obscurity and turned her into an global musical superstar – was an inspiration to thousands of fans.
The flag at the legislature in Quebec City will be flying at half-mast Friday, to commemorate the funeral of Rene Angelil.
