Vikings hire Pat Shurmur as assistant coach
The Vikings have added former Browns head coach Pat Shurmur to their coaching staff, according to multiple reports. He then moved on to be the offensive coordinator of the St. Louis Rams in 2009 and 2010, and then went on to be the head coach of the Cleveland Browns for two years, compiling a record of 9-23. Kelly handled the play-calling duties during their tenure with the franchise. The team now only has one role on the offensive coaching staff open, that being the running backs coordinator, but Shurmur does not have a history being a running backs coach. He originally broke into the National Football League with the Philadelphia Eagles as an offensive line coach after earning his stripes in the college ranks at MI and Stanford. Shurmur started his career in college at Michigan State, with eight years as tight ends coach for the Spartans.
Norv Turner is Zimmer’s offensive coordinator and his son Scott Turner is the team’s quarterback’s coach.
Rob Boras being the Los Angeles Rams’ offensive coordinator in 2016 is looking more and more likely… Prior to that, with Frank Cignetti at the helm, the Rams had averaged less than 16 points per game through the first twelve games of the season.
