Céline Dion’s brother dies of cancer

“His last days were in the wonderful care of the doctors and personnel at Maison Adhémar-Dion, a palliative care center in Terrebonne Québec”, the statement read. Her brother is being remembered as a very gentle and low-key individual with multiple talents and the family has asked for privacy to deal with their mourning for both family members.

Celine Dion is one of 14 children.

Celine Dion’s older brother Daniel has died from cancer at the age of 59. He was 73 and had battled throat cancer.

A visitation for Angelil will take place Thursday and his funeral will occur Friday afternoon at Montreal’s Notre Dame Basilica, where he and Dion were married 21 years ago.

Daniel Dion’s religious funeral will be held several days later at a church in the family’s hometown of Charlemagne.

Angelil was a well-known agent for musical groups in the Canadian province of Quebec and discovered Dion when she was only 12 years old. Celine Dion is close with all 13 of her siblings, so losing her brother just days after her husband has been devastating.

She canceled shows this weekend but told her fans she would be back on stage next month and resume her regular show schedule.
