At Iowa Rally, Glenn Beck Endorses Ted Cruz for President
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is pretty sure there are no limits to his popularity.
US Republican front-runner Donald Trump expressed confidence on Saturday that he could push back attempts by his rivals to knock him off his top perch, saying he could stand in New York’s Fifth Avenue “and shoot people and I wouldn’t lose voters”. Trump told an enthusiastic audience at a Christian school, Dordt College. “The time for silliness and reality show tactics has passed”, Beck charged at a Cruz rally.
In Pella, Trump brushed away Beck’s announcement.
It was hardly the first gaffe in the Trump presidential campaign.
Cruz is Trump’s most serious challenger in early-voting Iowa.
At his Sioux Center event, Trump called Beck a “loser” and “sad sack”.
Although the Palin endorsement brought Donald Trump – and Sarah Palin – a good deal of media attention over course of the week, Trump also took a virtual drubbing from the prominent conservative publication National Review, which published a special edition of the magazine entitled “Against Trump”.
Conservative media personality Glenn Beck on Saturday endorsed Ted Cruz for president, sharply contrasting him with his closest competition here 9 days before the caucuses. Trump is 69 and unlikely to have had positions on abortion and health care as a child.
“The people. My people are so smart, and you know what they say about my people?”
Trump and Cruz disagreed over immigration policy.
“I will let Donald speak for himself”, Cruz said, shaking his head in disbelief. “I can say I have no intention of shooting anybody in this campaign”, he told reporters, adding that he would keep his criticism focused on issues.
Though Trump went on to explain he’s confident on winning the GOP nomination, thus “I don’t really think its going to matter, that’s probably why I want to save the legal fees … maybe I would do it, maybe I won’t either”.
Another Republican candidate, Florida senator Marco Rubio, started a dash to the caucuses at Iowa State University in Ames, where he stressed that he represents the next generation of conservative leadership.
“Ted Cruz is a total hypocrite and, until recently, a Canadian citizen who may not even have a legal right to run for President”, Mr Trump alleged.
