David Bowie Had Liver Cancer Prior to His Death
The music legend died on Sunday (10.01.16) at the age of 69 after an 18-month battle with cancer.
In response to the tragic loss, fans have united in cities like London, Berlin, and NY to say farewell to their beloved David. “He told me he had cancer, liver cancer”.
Sounds like a very heartwarming and cathartic evening. I wouldn’t dream of getting on a spaceship, it’d scare the s*** out of me.
The circle of people who knew about Bowie’s cancer battle was reportedly kept very small. “You must see it to believe it…He knew…He could see through it all”.
According to the Mirror, Hove first learned of David Bowie’s death over the radio but says that he had an inkling something was wrong when he sent him an email, wishing him a happy birthday and never received a response. “I’ve got nothing left to lose”, Bowie sang.
Bowie did the same when he re-released 2013’s The Next Day, with the deluxe edition featuring a smattering of unheard songs and remixes by the likes of LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy – who lended his percussion skills to Blackstar. The bonds, which are now paid off, were bought by Prudential Insurance in 1997 for $55 million, and let Bowie retain ownership of his work rather than selling the copyright. Bowie’s longtime producer, Tony Visconti, called the album the singer’s ‘parting gift’.
The 60-year-old model married the “Starman” singer in 1992 before welcoming daughter Alexandria Zahra Jones, 15, together in 2000 and Iman’s close friend Bethann Hardison revealed the family are coping.
It was Bowie’s 1972 portrayal of a doomed bisexual rock envoy from space, Ziggy Stardust, that propelled him to global stardom.
This was a period that saw Bowie sporting an array of fantastic costumes, some said to based on the chilling Kubrick movie “A Clockwork Orange”.
In Britain, the Official Charts Company forecast that Blackstar would lead the weekly list and that 13 of Bowie’s previous albums would re-enter the top 100.
