The Boston Globe endorses Hillary Clinton

Bernie Sanders, I-Vermont, effectively tied with rival Hillary Clinton in Iowa and ahead in New Hampshire, he’s not content to rest on his laurels: Sanders also believes he can win in SC, even though the polls show him well behind there.

Trump didn’t just go after Democrats on Sunday. Cory Booker, who says she’s “the most qualified person since George Washington” to run for president. “But the reason that our campaign is generating so much interest and enthusiasm is people think it’s time that we take on the establishment, take on Wall Street, take on big money interests”.

With a week left until Iowa’s first-in-the-nation caucuses, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton on Sunday implored a packed middle school cafeteria to support her, criticizing presidential contenders on both sides of the aisle.

The candidates spoke on NBC’s “Meet the Press” following reports that Bloomberg once again was considering running for president.

“I expect that Secretary Clinton will get a lot of endorsements from mainstream media”, Mr. Sanders said.

“No bank is too big to fail, and no executive is too powerful to jail”, she said.

She also insisted on her foreign policy bona fides and the “very specific steps” she would take to defeat the Islamic State jihadist group.

It’s a long line of supporters that she’s looking for on caucus night. “The way I read what he said is if I didn’t get the nomination, he might consider it. Well, I’m going to relieve him of that and get the nomination so he doesn’t have to”. And indeed, before 2008, many people balked at the notion that the United States was ready for a Black president, or that Obama could achieve anything in the “very white state” of Iowa, as Sanders reminded a boisterous crowd in Clinton, Iowa, on Saturday.

“We need to chart a steady course”, she concluded – suggesting that a Sanders administration would lack such stability.

New Hampshire’s primary is scheduled for February 9, 2016.

Clinton’s campaign was boosted over the weekend from an endorsement by the Des Moines Register.

Several senators were campaigning in Iowa on her behalf, including New Jersey Sen. According to a poll released Friday by Suffolk University’s Political Research Center, Clinton maintained her grip on women despite trailing Sanders, 50 percent to 41 percent. Channeling a little “Yes We Can”, Sanders tells his audience that democracy is their responsibility and that they’ll all have to pitch in after the election.

On healthcare, Clinton is whacking Sanders for wanting to “tear up” the Affordable Care Act and “end all the kinds of healthcare we know” in favor of a single-payer system.

The Republican super PAC America Rising has assigned a tracker to follow Sanders on the campaign trail, and has submitted open-records requests for many of his documents. “There was a punk rock show at the Octopus on Hill Street called ‘Shred for Bernie, ‘ and everybody I knew was there – it was a big event”, Cady said.
