UK man must notify police if he plans to have sex
A man has been banned from having sex with a woman unless he gives police 24 hours warning.
The man from York must contact the police to tell them of any woman he plans to have a relationship or one-night stand with. A person who has been issued a sexual risk order may not necessarily be a sexual offender.
An interim sexual risk order, initially imposed in December, has been extended for four months by magistrates in York.
The restrictions are part of an interim s*xual risk order and will continue until May 19, when York magistrates will decide whether to make a full order and if so, for how long. He must do this at least 24 hours before any s*xual act occurs.
The man will be bound by the civil order even though he has not been convicted of a sexual offence.
A sexual risk order can last for a minimum of two years, and on breaching, it can land a person into prison for a term of up to five years.
The acting director at End Violence Against Women, Sarah Green stated that such orders are necessary keeping the potential victims safe.
The man is also restricted from use of the internet or a smartphone and is required to inform police if he changes his address, according to a report in the Grimsby Telegraph. They can be enforced on anyone whom the authorities deem to pose a sexual risk to the public, regardless of whether or not they have been convicted.
