Adam McKay’s “The Big Short” won Best Comedy, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Comedy Actor for Christian Bale.
But it was Spotlight’s night. Rachael McAdamas received the award for the Best Acting Ensemble Award for her movie Spotlight. Tremblay took home the award for Best Young Actor/Actress for his role in The Room, and if his performance in the film hadn’t won enough people over, his heart-melting and adorable acceptance speech sure did.
DiCaprio took the best actor prize for his lead role survival drama “The Revenant” while Larson won best actress for portraying a young mother held captive with her son in “Room”. Just last week he posted pictures of himself with a number of huge Hollywood stars at the Golden Globes before having a lightsaber battle with Star Wars actor Oscar Isaac at the after party.
Leonardo DiCaprio, who was also not present at the ceremony, was named best actor for The Revenant. Alicia Vikander also finally picked up some hardware, for Best Supporting Actress for The Danish Girl.
On taking the stage, the Trainwreck actress started her hilarious speech on a self-deprecating note.
“See You Again”, the touching ballad dedicated to Paul Walker, the late star of “Furious 7”, won for best song.
For television, “Mr. Robot” got several awards, including Best Drama Series.
