Panthers too strong for Cardinals
The Panthers will play Denver in Super Bowl 50.
The Panthers rolled the Arizona Cardinals in the NFC Championship Game. Palmer forced a pass through traffic in the end zone-resulting in an interception-and momentum was back in the Panthers’ favor. Despite losing key players such as linebacker Thomas Davis (arm injury) and safety Roman Harper (eye injury), the Panthers cruised to the NFC Championship Game without breaking a sweat. But his most impressive play might have been on defense, preventing a touchdown after Patrick Peterson intercepted a Newton pass. “You get to this point and it just burns”. The coaches put so much in. They know they let the fans down and more importantly they let themselves down. “You can keep all them questions”.
The Panthers jumped out to a 17-0 lead and Palmer felt like he had to do something.
– Philly Brown, Panthers, had four receptions for 113 yards and a score – an 86-yard TD – in Carolina’s 49-15 win over Arizona.
“I didn’t have to say anything…I really liked the way we were aggressive at the end of the game”.
“One of the greats, if not the greatest, ” Short said. The network’s pre-game coverage begins at 11 a.m.; its “Super Bowl Today” coverage runs from 2-6 p.m.
So, allowing a gift touchdown, one that would have unfortunately come at the expense of Carolina’s own lead-stretching score, could have been a game-altering moment. Veteran wideout Larry Fitzgerald was crushed after a loss in which he had only four catches for 30 yards.
One of the largest winter storms seen in quite some time ripped through the Carolina, and getting the field ready for the game took some work, but it was ready. The window is far from closed, but they also know this was a golden opportunity squandered.
That’s what he wanted so badly. Unfortunately…Cam Newton and his team of dancing Panthers will be a heck of a hurdle to jump. After making a case for Comeback Player of the Year and looking like the second or third best quarterback all season, his playoff numbers weren’t as impressive.
10 December 2015: Arizona Cardinals Quarterback Carson Palmer (3) [962] talks to Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians in action during a Thursday Night Football game between the Minnesota Vikings and the Arizona Cardinals at University of Phoenix Stadium, in Glendale, AZ. First, he threw an interception to Luke Kuechly, who returned the ball 21 yards for a touchdown. The Panthers scored a touchdown on the drive to go ahead by 17. “I believe it was 17-7 at that time”. Apparently it’s a pretty good bruise or something, but they are going to evaluate that I guess later tonight or whatever. “I just have to make sure I’m smarter in that situation in fielding the ball”. Arizona has a decent run defense, holding opponents to 3.9 yards per carry, but they will have to take another step forward to stop the Panthers.
“I was trying to set up Cam Newton, but as soon as I looked up I saw No. 19 still chugging”, Peterson said. All day, these guys put their bodies and lives on the line, and for me to come out here and miss a kick, it’s a nightmare scenario. But the Cardinals were so unimpressed they cut him a year later. After the Cardinals went four and out again, Newton responded with a 12 yard touchdown run.
“It’s the most we’ve ever written on two games like this”, Vaccaro said, “which unequivocally means this will be the highest Super Bowl we’ll ever write”. If Jonathan Stewart can’t find room on the ground, Newton will have to find magic in the air, though defenders surely will focus on Olson…. Johnson also led the team with nine catches for 68 yards.
