Red Sox put Dustin Pedroia on 15-day DL
The Boston Red Sox have placed second baseman Dustin Pedroia on the 15-day disabled list with a right hamstring injury, the team announced on Saturday.
“The play in-game obviously build back up on him to the point of the aggravation”, he said.
When Pedroia struggled upon return, some wondered if a rehab stint in the minors would’ve helped him ease back into action.
Wright will be active and start Saturday’s game against the Detroit Tigers at Fenway Park. “While the injury or the strain to the hamstring doesn’t show any enlargement, still he’s aggravated by the symptoms and feel like he needs some shutdown period to get back over it”.
Pedroia, who initially injured the hamstring on June 24 against the Baltimore Orioles, went on the disabled list and returned after the All-Star break. He proceeded to go 0-for-20 at the plate before connecting on an RBI double in the sixth game of the road trip. Per the AP, Pedroia has recorded just one hit in his past 22 at-bats over the last six games. “I can’t say there was a singular event that caused what he’s feeling”. More than anything it was determined he wasn’t going to risk further injury.
Farrell would not give a timetable for when Pedroia will return from the injury, noting that the Red Sox thought he was alright after three weeks off before. “Tried that, played for a little bit, got black and blue so we did the smart thing and got it looked at and go from there”. The 2008 AL MVP was batting.
“Pedey wanted to get back on the field, as we all know, when he was first available”, said Farrell. 287 this season, his 10th in the majors, with nine homers and 34 RBIs in 75 games.
