Too cute! Police in Ecuador rescue stranded sloth
The silly sloth’s smile will make your Monday.
LOS RIOS, Ecuador- Why did the sloth cross the road? He made it through the first half but ended up clinging to the pole that separated the highway’s two directions and getting more than a little bit stuck.
The officers stopped to help the small mammal after noticing it “struggling to cross” the roadway, BuzzFeed reported, citing a transit commission spokesperson.
They are arboreal (tree-dwelling) residents of the jungles of Central and South America, and are known for being slow-moving, hence the name “sloths”. It was determined to be OK and returned to its habitat.
Photos of the rescue have been shared more than 42,000 times, with many people thanking the police for saving the adorable critter.
After Quevedo police posted on Facebook about the sloth, the animal has made hundreds of thousands of fans around the globe.
