Diddy, Wahlberg donating 1 million bottles of water to Flint
Wahlberg and Diddy joined the AQUAhydrate team in 2013, when they became investors and the faces of the LA-based bottled water company.
The company, AQUAhydrate, says it will be sending 5,000 cases of water to Flint and will continue to send water until the city has resolved the issues with its municipal water supply.
“Maybe fellow artists will help Flint in any way they choose”, Cher tweeted January 16, before calling people in showbiz “notoriously generous”.
Fallon made the announcement on Twitter Sunday, calling on 10 of his friends to match the donation.
Michigan’s attorney general announced on Monday that a former prosecutor and a retired head of the Detroit FBI will play key roles in an investigation into Flint’s lead-tainted water as part of an effort to seek answers and prevent potential conflicts of interest. With the Flint River system however, no corrosion prevention was in play, and the water contained higher levels of chloride, leading to lead buildup.
The result was that lead from outdated pipes leached into the drinking water for a year and a half and caused a huge spike in child lead poisoning in the city. In addition to Diddy and Wahlberg, stars that have donated to the water crisis include MI natives Eminem and Big Sean, as well as Wiz Khalifa, Meek Mill, among others.
