Bomb threat to Kathmandu-bound Jet flight turns out to be hoax
The stranded flight later got security clearance and took off for Nepal’s capital at 1930 hours after a six-hour delay. The phone call was snapped after wishing the Delhi police official a happy Republic day.
The flight, scheduled for 1:25pm with 104 passengers and seven crew on board, was delayed due to the hoax. The flight departed with all 104 passengers onboard, an airport official said.
According to the Tehalka, the 9W-260 flight was stopped at the Indira Gandhi International Airport after “after an anonymous caller said that there was a gift box on seat 18 of the plane”.
The Bomb Threat Assessment Panel (BTAC) continues to be triggered, they stated, along with a final settlement for that trip is anticipated.
A Kathmandu-bound Jet Airways flight was grounded Monday afternoon after the office of the DCP (IGI) received a “threat” call, warning of a “gift box” under a seat in the aircraft. Airport security was immediately alerted. “A thorough search of the plane is being conducted”, Deputy Commissioner of Police Dinesh Kumar Gupta told reporters.
“We apologise for the inconvenience caused to our guests. Security of our guests and crew is always our number one priority”, said Jet Airways in a statement.
